Celebrating 10 Years of WinterFest With GECU
GECU was proud to help make WinterFest’s 10th anniversary sparkle.
Downtown El Paso truly sparkled this holiday season as WinterFest celebrated its 10th anniversary, and GECU was honored to be part of the magic. Organized by the City of El Paso, WinterFest once again brought families, friends and visitors together to celebrate the season with joy, light and community spirit — a tradition that continues to grow year after year.
As the presenting sponsor of Pictures with Santa and, for the first time, the presenting sponsor of The Rink at WinterFest, GECU was proud to support two of the season’s most cherished attractions. These experiences were at the heart of the downtown holiday celebration, creating moments and memories that families will carry with them for years to come.
From November 22, 2025, through January 4, 2026, San Jacinto Plaza and the surrounding downtown area were transformed into a festive winter wonderland. More than one million twinkling lights, oversized holiday decorations, winter-themed displays and a stunning 55-foot holiday tree set the scene for a season filled with joy. Visitors of all ages laced up their skates at the outdoor ice rink, gathered for family-friendly programming and soaked in the holiday atmosphere that has become synonymous with WinterFest.
Each weekend, GECU team members were on-site at the GECU booth, spreading cheer with holiday giveaways, sharing helpful financial resources and welcoming the community to snap photos with GECU’s beloved mascot, Dru Blue. These moments of connection reflected what the season is all about – coming together, giving back and celebrating the spirit of El Paso.
As a not-for-profit, member-owned credit union, GECU remains committed to supporting events that unite our community. WinterFest showcased the very best of El Paso: families making downtown traditions, generations coming together and countless joyful moments shared under a canopy of lights.
