GECU Online Privacy Notice

We respect your privacy and understand the importance of maintaining the security of your personal information. This Online Privacy Policy (“Policy”) only relates to the information GECU Federal Credit Union (“GECU,” “Credit Union,” “we,” “our,” “us”) collects online through our online banking platform and mobile banking application (collectively, our “online services”). We ask that you read this Policy carefully. By using any of our online services, you consent to this Policy.

This Policy is in addition to GECU’s Annual Privacy Notice. We’ll use and share any information that we collect from or about you in accordance with the Annual Privacy Notice.


WHAT TYPES OF INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU?

When you visit or use our online services, you may be asked to provide information about you that is personally identifiable (“Personal Information”). We may collect Personal Information when you enter data into an application for new products or services or when you use our products and services. Personal Information may include:

  • Your first and last name;
  • A home or physical address (including street name or name of a city or town);
  • An email address;
  • A telephone number;
  • A tax identification number; and
  • Any other identifier that permits physical or online contact with you.

In addition, our online services may collect certain electronic data. For example, we may capture the internet protocol (“IP”) address from which you access our online services; the type of browser and operating system used to access our online services; the unique identifier of the device from which you access our online services and other device-identifying technical data; the date and time you access our online services; the Internet address of the site from which you linked directly to our online services; and the pages you visit and the information you request. We may also use cookies, web beacons or other technologies to collect and store other information about your visit to, or use of, our online services.


GECU MOBILE APP

For your convenience, GECU offers you the ability to access some of our products and services through our mobile application. When you interact with us through the GECU Mobile App, we may collect information regarding your mobile device such as device settings, unique device identifiers, information about your location, and analytical information that may assist with diagnostics and performance. For your convenience, you may be asked to grant permission for access to your mobile device's geolocation data. This information may be collected when you use certain services that are dependent on your mobile device’s location (such as the location of an ATM or GECU branch location).


You have the right to request the deletion of your access to our online services. Before requesting the deletion of your online services access, please note that for fraud prevention, security, and compliance purposes, we may retain certain data associated with your digital banking profile even after its deletion.

USE OF INFORMATION

We use the Personal Information and other information we collect from and about you to:

  • Authenticate you so that you can access the online services and conduct account transactions;
  • Recognize you, your device or your browser when you use the online services so that we can facilitate navigation, display information more effectively, store your preferences and otherwise personalize your experience and enhance the use of the online services;
  • Process your applications and transactions;
  • Respond to your inquiries, fulfill requests and request your feedback;
  • Service your account and market to you, including advertisements and other communications tailored to you;
  • To track responses to our e-mails and advertisements and to measure the success of our marketing campaigns;
  • Provide you with account information, as well as information regarding our branches and branch events;
  • For our business purpose and other lawful purposes, such as for data analysis, audits, fraud monitoring and prevention, information security, improving our online services, developing new products and services, managing our business effectively, identifying usage trends, and expanding our business activities;
  • Review statistical information about use of the online services in order to improve their design and functionality, to understand how they are used, and to assist us with resolving questions about the online services; and
  • Ensure that the online services function properly and otherwise administer the online services.

We may share your Personal Information with affiliates and third parties in accordance with the practices set forth in our Annual Privacy Notice. We do not and will not sell your Personal Information. We may use or share information to enhance your experience on our online services, to help deliver our ads on your web browser, and to measure advertising campaign effectiveness. We may also share your information as required to meet legal and regulatory obligations.

CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT (COPPA)

GECU is committed to protecting the online privacy of the children who visit our online services and complying with COPPA. In general, our online services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we request that children do not provide personal information through our online services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.


LINKS TO THIRD PARTY SITES

GECU uses third party vendor sites to enhance your ability to use online financial tools. When you leave GECU’s website, the links you may access are for your convenience and are for informational purposes only. Any products and services accessed through these links are not provided or guaranteed by GECU. The sites you visit may have a privacy policy that is different from GECU’s. Please review their privacy policy. GECU does not endorse the content contained in any of these sites or the organization(s) publishing these sites and, hereby disclaims any responsibility for such content. GECU does not represent either the third party or the member if the two enter into a transaction.

SECURITY

GECU maintains strict security controls to ensure privacy and financial security. We use physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with applicable federal and state laws to protect and limit access to personal information. This includes device safeguards and secured files and buildings. GECU requires passwords and PINs, including encryption and security measures such a multi-factor authentication, to access accounts through our online services. You are responsible for the confidentiality of passwords/PINs. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.


CHANGES TO THIS ONLINE PRIVACY POLICY

We may change this Online Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will let you know by appropriate means such as by posting the revised policy on this page with a new “Last Updated” date. Any changes to this Online Privacy Policy will become effective when posted unless indicated otherwise.
