  • What is a savings account?
A savings account is an insured dividend-paying account that is opened and maintained with a minimum of $10 where you may add or withdraw money as you choose. You must open a savings account to become a member and get access to other GECU products and services. A member’s first share account establishes his/her GECU membership as long as at least one share savings account remains open. This account can provide overdraft protection for checking accounts.

  • What is a high-yield savings account?
A high-yield savings account offers a higher dividend rate than a standard savings account, allowing your money to grow even faster as it sits in your account. GECU Money Market accounts offer a higher dividend rate than a typical savings account while allowing access to your money — similar to a high-yield savings account.
  • Can I transfer money?
Transferring money is easy and can be done with GECU Online Banking, the GECU Mobile App,1 GECU Chat, or the contact center. Learn more about transferring money.
  • How do I set up my direct deposit?
Provide your employer with GECU’s routing number (312081089) and your account number to set up your direct deposit with GECU. Log in to your online banking account, click on “Financial Tools,” then select “Direct Deposit Letter.” The direct deposit letter can also be picked up at any GECU location. Then, provide your direct deposit letter to your employer.
  • What is an IRA savings account?
An individual retirement account (IRA) is a retirement savings account that offers the possibility of tax breaks now or at retirement depending on whether you pick a Roth IRA or a traditional IRA.
