ABOUT GECU

Advocating for Credit Unions Everywhere

Why advocacy matters

  • Members first: We are a not-for-profit organization that is operated by a volunteer board of directors who work to serve our members first. Each of our members are owners who have a vote and a share in the credit union. Your vote is key in supporting how your credit union operates.
  • Preserving the philosophy: We are part of a nationwide effort that is dedicated to preserving the credit union difference in state and federal legislation. This allows us to continue providing our products, services, low rates and community support.
  • Supporting legislation: Our advocacy efforts support legislations that prevent credit unions and members from being held accountable for data breaches, preserve our federal income tax exemption, and promote common sense regulations that do not negatively impact our members.

Become a credit union advocate and we will inform you about legislation that may impact you and help connect you with elected officials to share why GECU is important to you.
