Annual Membership Level 1

The $50 Miners Kids Club membership comes with:

  • Free admission to any UTEP game for football, soccer, volleyball, softball, and women’s and men’s basketball
  • A $10 discount for additional kids within the same family

Annual Membership Level 2

The $25 Miners Kids Club membership comes with:


  • Free admission to any UTEP women’s basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball game
  • Free admission to one UTEP football game and two men’s basketball games excluding games with NMSU
  • A $5 discount for additional kids within the same family

  • How do I sign up to become a Miners Kids Club member?
    You can sign up a child 12 years of age and younger to become a Miners Kids Club member.
  • Is there a fee to become a member of the Miners Kids Club presented by GECU?
    The Miners Kids Club offers two club access levels with an annual membership fee of $25 or $50.
  • Do I need to pay to open the GECU Miners Kids Club Youth Savings account?
    The GECU Miners Kids Club Youth Savings account is only for members of the Miners Kids Club presented by GECU. You will not need to make a deposit when you open the youth savings account after becoming a Miners Kids Club member.
  • What is a kids savings account?
    A kids savings account is a safe place to store and grow your money. A savings account earns dividends on the funds in the account. You can deposit or withdraw funds from the account at any time. You can open a GECU savings account with a minimum deposit of $10. It also establishes GECU membership.
  • Can I open a savings account online?
    Setting up a savings account for a child is easy. You can open a savings account at any location. Find your nearest location today.
  • How does a child savings account work?
    A child savings account allows a member to earn dividends quarterly if the account has an average daily balance of $10. This account gives them immediate access to their funds by visiting a GECU location. 
  • What do I need to open a savings account?
    A valid government- or state-issued picture ID and a $10 opening deposit are needed when setting up a savings account for a child.
  • How old does a child have to be for a parent or guardian to open a GECU Miners Kids Club Youth Savings account on the child’s behalf?
    Kids savings accounts can be opened from birth to age 12. Learn more to become a Miners Kids Club member.
  • Can I open an account for a family member?
    A parent or adult sponsor is able to open an account for a family member if membership-eligibility requirements are met. The parent or adult sponsor must provide required forms of identification for themselves and a Social Security number for the minor child. Learn more about membership-eligibility requirements.
  • How soon will I get my $10 deposit?
    A $10 deposit will automatically be placed into your GECU Miners Kids Club Youth Savings account after two recurring transfers are completed by the parent or guardian named on the account in online banking within the first three months of opening the account. Limit one deposit per account.
  • How do I set up recurring transfers?
    Setting up a recurring transfer is easy. First, log in to your online banking account. Then, select the “Transfer Money” tab, click “Make a Transfer,” follow the prompts to select the accounts that you would like the funds to come from and go into, click repeat transfer to set up the transfer frequency, place amount, and click “Make Transfer” to complete. You’re all set and your recurring transfer is complete.
  • Does my account come with an ATM card?
    Yes, your ATM card can be used at any GECU ATM or any of the 80,000+ surcharge-free ATMs nationwide to help avoid fees.
Membership eligibility is required.
1A Miners Kids Club membership is required to open a GECU Miners Kids Club Youth Savings account. A minimum opening deposit of $10 will be funded by GECU at account opening. APY (Annual Percentage Yield) of 0.15% is dependent on the share account opened and is accurate as of the last dividend declaration date. Rates may change after the account is opened. Rates are accurate as of November 19, 2024. Limit one account per Miners Kids Club membership. GECU will provide tax reporting to recipient and Internal Revenue Service.

3Online banking is not available to individuals under 13 years old. Receive a one-time deposit of $10 into the GECU Miners Kids Club Youth Savings account when recurring transfers are set up by the parent or guardian who is joint on the account through GECU Online Banking and two transfers are completed within the first three months of opening the account. Limit one deposit per account.
