Who does the GECU Foundation benefit?
The foundation benefits organizations that focus on core developmental issues that include education, savings mobilization, representation, hunger, health, housing, transportation, employment and income generation, access to credit, appropriate technology, and environment.
What is the impact of the GECU Foundation?
Since its inception, the foundation has awarded funds of more than $340,000 for scholarships to UTEP, Texas Tech and El Paso Community College students. In 2019, we fundraised and donated $247,000 to El Paso Strong efforts, working closely with United Way of El Paso County, El Paso Community Foundation and Paso del Norte Community Foundation. And in 2020, we donated more than $243,000 to help organizations combat the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Can I get a tax deduction from my financial donation?
If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, you may be entitled to claim your donation to the GECU Foundation as a charitable deduction. Please consult your tax adviser.
What financial information is available about the GECU Foundation?
As a public foundation, we are not required to disclose the name or any other information of our donors. Information is safely stored in our donor database. A list of names and addresses of contributors who give more than $5,000 is contained in our Form 990, Schedule B.
