Welcome Home El Paso Down Payment Grant program

  • This program offers up to 5% of the amount of the home loan in assistance3 that you don’t have to pay back.
  • This down-payment assistance is available for homes within El Paso, Texas, city limits.
  • Welcome Home El Paso is available for anyone buying a home in El Paso, Texas, who becomes a GECU member and meets the qualification requirements.

First-time Homebuyers Program

  • The First-time Homebuyers Program4 offers at least $1,000 and up to $35,000 that must be used for principal reduction.
  • The home must be within the city limits of El Paso, Texas, and the maximum sales price varies.
  • Buyers may get prequalified for a credit union home loan through a participating lender like us.
  • Applicants must complete a Financial Education and Homeownership course offered through our financial coaching program.
  • Additionally, you may also qualify for up to $5,000 in closing costs and down-payment assistance.
  • Applicants must have a minimum investment amount of $1,000 of their own funds.

TSAHC Home-purchase Assistance⁵

You can get one step closer to becoming a homeowner with Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation assistance and GECU!

Homebuyers could receive up to 5% of their loan amount to use toward a down payment or closing costs for a home in Texas. TSAHC offers a variety of homebuyer programs for qualifying applicants, including:

  • 2–5% grant assistance to purchase their home
  • Home loans with low down payments and fixed rates
  • Mortgage interest tax credits
  • Homes for Texas Heroes Program
